Four More Days!

We're down to 4 days left in our school year and it hardly seems possible!  We've been working on finishing out our last set of centers in between a field trip and {indoor} field day.  It's been raining ALL DAY!  What a bummer for the kindergarteners on their first field day!

Here are pics from 4 of the 8 centers we're finishing.  The kids are loving them!

They have to sort the cards to form a sentence and then write it next to the corresponding bug on their sheet.  We are working hard on neatness, spaces, capitalization, and punctuation.  They have to read the sentences to me when they are finished.

This one is a Write the Room center where they find the bug cards around the room. (One is hanging in the background on the front of my big book cart).  They slowly say the name of the CVC picture on the card, decide if the middle sound is /e/, /i/, or /u/ and then write the word in the correct vowel column.

Choose a card with an addition problem on it, use the cubes to help solve the problem and then write the number sentence on their paper.  I love that the numbers on the cards are in two different colors {red and blue}.

Unscramble the word wall word from the card, stamp it and then write it in the boxes.  They read the words to me when finished.
Our centers this week are from these 2 units from 2 awesome bloggers ~

Next week we will be camping out in our room.  I'll bring in my kid-sized tent and we will do all camping themed activities to finish out our year!  I'll be sure to share some pics of all the fun!

Calgon, take me away!!!

I can't believe how busy I've been!!!  When I started this blog 2 months ago, my goal was to blog at least twice a week.  I figured I would start out slow and be realistic!  Well, that didn't work the way I wanted.  It seems like observations/evaluations, assessments, end of the year activities, and baseball season {5 teams between the 4 boys} have taken over my life!  I am definitely going to work harder at making my blog a priority.

I'm finishing up my portfolio to hand in before I meet with my principal and then it's on to a farm field trip and all-school field day to round out this week.  Next week we have 4 days of babysitting school left and then summer is finally here!  Maybe I'll get my pool open by the end of June!

Before I sign off, I did want to share some of the activities we are going to be working on this week.  They are from two bloggers that I truly enjoy following!  I started these centers last week and the kiddos were so involved and loving them!

Take care!

I'm soooo excited!

I have real actual followers!  Welcome, welcome, welcome!

I'm also excited because I just got my new laptop today!  I'm like a kid at Christmas!  I can't wait for the weekend so I can spend some time exploring it.

Well, I spent today in a training session to learn about the 4 new math series our district is considering for K-8.  I am one of the pilot teachers and we are going to spend 9 weeks exploring them in our classroom.

By the end of the day, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed!

There were definitely 2 choices that could work well in kindergarten but the other 2 I'm a bit nervous about.

These are the 4 choices and they all align with the CCSS:

Go! Math

My Math

Math in Focus

enVision Math

I would love to know if any of you currently use one of these series (at any grade level) and what do you think of it...  :)

My First Upload & It's A Freebie!

I did it!  I uploaded my first document and I'm offering it as a freebie!  There are no graphics since I'm still figuring out all the Terms of Use!  (Could it be more complicated?)

I made this for a friend who wanted something to use in a center with her new color word dice and the kiddos enjoyed it!  I'm planning to use it this week as one of our centers.

To play, the children work with a partner or in groups of 3.  They roll the color word dice and color in the corresponding box on the graph.  When one player has a color reach the top, the game is over.  There are 2 versions:  On one they write a sentence with color words and on the other they answer questions about the graph.

I hope you can find a use for this, too!  Enjoy!

Just Getting Started...

This is my 1st official blog and I'm so excited to be starting this new journey!  I'm normally a very private person, so this is really forcing me to step leap outside my box.

I'm looking forward to sharing some of the things I do with my kinderkids.  I'm part of an awesome kindergarten team and can't imagine working without them!  There are a lot of scary changes happening with education in our state/district but we keep each other positive!

After much inspiration, I am working on creating my first materials to share and hope to post them ASAP.  (Now, if only my computer would share my enthusiasm and co-operate with me!) *sigh*

Welcome to my blog... :)
